We’re quick to abandon objects that no longer serve us: clothes, pens, CDs, typewriters, houses, paraben-laced cosmetics.
We throw them away without another thought.
But why do we suffer to abandon beliefs that no longer serve us?
What do we gain by holding on to them?
What are we afraid of losing?
Who are we empowering by failing to release them?
What do we hope to accomplish?
How are they serving us?
Our careers are created around a set of beliefs we cling to, and we create Rules around those beliefs.
Today, it’s time to change.
Pick one of those rules, whisper it into your hands, and let it float away with the breeze. Abandon it with abandon. You’ll feel lighter, better, and be more open to the new beliefs that come in that will actually serve you and your career.
