“We need to look at this issue from another angle.”
An arachnophobe has looked at the issue of spiders from every possible angle. And the conclusion: they’re scary, too much so to engage with.
But the arachnophobe looks at the issue from the lens of the arachnophobe: of course that’s the conclusion that will be arrived at. Different angles don’t change a thing.
It’s helpful, however, for the arachnophobe to know, accept, and own their arachnophobic way of seeing the world. What do they get out of it? What do they lose because of it? Are they okay with that…really okay with that?
Forget looking at your issue from a different angle. Scrutinize the lens with which you see it. That’s when you really arrive at new understanding.
